2023 Chicago Auto Show Media Preview

The 2023 Chicago Auto Show was jam-packed with vehicles from many of the top automobile manufacturers as the show is finally getting back to its normal size before Covid-19. I was fortunate enough to attend the show a total of three times (Both media days and a general admission day). Overall, I was very impressed with most of the displays and was just generally happy that some manufacturers that were absent in the last few years have finally come back. Of course, with electric vehicles on the rise, many displays focused on the manufacturer’s current and future electric vehicles. Not only did this make the show different, but the many test tracks also put a new spin on the Chicago Auto Show. Jeep has been the staple of test tracks for the Chicago Auto Show but many new ways to test out vehicles have arrived such as Ford with their Bronco and F-150 Lighting tests, Toyota, Hyundai, Ram, and the electric vehicle track where you can ride in electric cars offered from companies such as BMW, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Volkswagen, and Nissan. I was very impressed with how they were able to fill the show’s floor with these tracks to replace the space where other auto manufacturers would’ve been if they opted into the show. At the MAMA’s breakfast, I was happy to hear that next year’s show is expected to bring back at least two more manufacturers that haven’t been presenting in the last few years. Subaru once again blew every other display away with their forest-themed display. Everything from the fake forest imagery, sounds, smells, and of course, the puppy pen made their display stand out like no other. While I assume it is very expensive to produce this kind of display, it does have an impact on how people see the Subaru brand and I believe it’s well worth it for their image. As the Chicago Auto Show comes to an end today, I will be counting down the days to the 2024 Auto Show.
