Small Cheval Review

A new Small Cheval location just opened on March 11th in Rosemont Illinois and we had to check it out. This has been a place we’ve been dying to try for quite a while now. Joseph, our friend Scot, and I went for lunch on Tuesday afternoon during the lunch rush. The ambiance of this place is just wow. It has a super inviting inside with a glass-domed ceiling and greenery inside. The ordering process is super quick, all you do is go up, tell the worker what you want, then get a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready, and finally, you just go up and grab your food when you get the buzz. For a cheeseburger and fry we waited about 8 minutes which we were very content with. Scot and I ordered a double cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and dijonnaise while Joey ordered a double cheeseburger with onions, pickles, and the dijonnaise. For dessert, Joey got the caramel soft serve with the Goldbrick (milk chocolate and pecans) dip covering, Scot got a root beer float, and I got a chocolate soft serve with the cherry dip covering. Here are our individual reviews

Reviews

Joey: It tasted as good as it can be but at the end of the day it’s still just a burger and fries. Mine I would say was a little undercooked. The decor inside was perfect it was nice and bright with all the natural light flooding in. The value of the food I’d have to say is a little low because the extra charges for add-ons are a little much.

Scot: The food was really good. The burger was a little dry but good. Had a cool modern vibe with the ambiance. The root beer float was very flavorful.

Jeff: The cheeseburger was very solid and full. The lettuce was nice and crisp as well as the tomato. The patties were grilled to perfection and the cheese complemented it so well. The fries were decent but nothing special and not worth the price in my opinion. The chocolate soft serve with the cherry dip covering was definitely a standout and I would come back again just for the ice cream.

  1. Hmmm, you guys made me hungry to give this place a try. Your feelings were mixed as to it being good/bad so maybe I’ll just go there if I’m in the area. Thanks for the caution as to the burgers being overcoooked. Nothing worse than a dry gray meat. I’ll ask for rare.
